It’s essential to ensure your machine’s board configuration is compatible with this memory expansion. If you already have the necessary CPU setup, installation is a straightforward drop-in process. The 1400-5C CPU was developed to handle more memory compared to earlier CPU models, where the maximum capacity was capped at 384k. This upgrade allows for significantly more memory, ranging from 4MB to 16MB.

When upgrading from a 1400-5A to a 1400-5C, it is recommended to install V103.5 software on the Fadal CPU for optimal performance.

 

Installation Process for Fadal 1460 Memory Expansion

Before starting the installation process, record all your parameters as they will need to be re-entered after the memory upgrade. 

Here’s a step-by-step guide to installing the PCB-0043 memory board:

Enter CNC Diagnostics: Start by entering the command DI and type G0 3000, then select ZERO MEMORY.

Clear Memory: Confirm the prompt to lose all programs by selecting Y. Turn off the CNC and wait for 10 seconds.

Power ON: Power the machine back on.

Reinitialize Memory: Enter the command RI followed by Y to reinitialize the CNC format.

Restart Control: After confirming all prompts with Y, the control will restart.

Set Tool and Parameters: Use the SETTO command to set the current tool in the tool turret as number 1. Re-enter the original backlash values using the BL command and set all parameter values using the SETP command.

Final Restart: Turn off the CNC and wait for 10 seconds before powering back on.

After installation, verify the memory upgrade using the following commands:

• Enter DT to ensure all values are zero.
• Use the ME command to check the new memory capacity.

Take precautions and dry-run the machine to ensure all parameters were entered correctly before resuming production.
